Signature Automation is the proud recipient of the 2016 Water Environment Association of Texas' Exemplary Employer Award. The award recognizes employers who support and facilitate their employees' involvement and activities within the WEAT and WEF organizations. This recognition is a testament to the willingness of our staff to give back to the profession as several of our employeers are active at both the local and state levels. The award will be presented to Signature Automation at the upcoming Texas Water Conference to be held in Fort Worth on April 19-22, 2016.

Philip Liu Raises Money for Charity

Signature Automation is proud of our newest employee, Philip Liu, who showed his big heart by taking part in the National Alliance on Mental Illness' ( 5K Walk in Austin, Texas on Saturday, September 27, 2015. Philip raised $550 on his own as part of the $810 his family raised for this charitable event. Congratulations Philip!!!.

Signature Automation employees Kevin Patel, Steve Murphy, and Andy Paulson joined in the fun at the 2nd annual Arlington Hall of Fame Golf Classic. The event, held at the Tierra Verde golf course in Arlington, Texas, included NFL Hall of Fame members Kenny Houston, Leroy Kelley, Roger Wehrli, and Rayfield Wright as well as honored guests from the Wounded Warrior Project. The event raised $15,000 for Arlington Junior Golf. Signature Automation was honored to support this worthwhile event.

Water Environment Association of Texas recognizes Rick Hidalgo

Congratulations to Signature Automation's Rick Hidalgo. Rick is the 2015 recipient of the Water Environment Federation's George W. Burke, Jr. award. The purpose of the award is to encourage an active and effective safety program in municipal and industrial wastewater facilities. This award is generally presented to a facility in recognition of their safety efforts, but for the first time in its history is being presented to an individual in recognition of Rick's contributions to the industry. Throughout the past year, Rick has chaired the Water Environment Association of Texas' Safety & Security Committee and helped to lead the awareness level of cyber security issues in the water sector. The award was presented to Rick at the 2015 Texas Water Conference in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 15, 2015.

Rick Hidalgo and Tony Mbroh of Mbroh Engineering, Inc. co-hosted the January 2015 seminar on Software Testing sponsored by the Water Environment Association of Texas' Electrical & Instrumentaiton committee. The seminar was tailored towards the typical software testing accomplished on control systems such as Factory Testing, Field Demonstration Testing and Site Availability Demonstrations. Individuals representing the Owner, Engineer and Systems Integrator presented their viewpoints. Signature Automation's Andy Paulson represented the Engineer's viewpoint. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion moderated by Rick.

Signature Automation Welcomes Hasan Zaman and Steve Murphy

Signature Automation, LLC is proud to announce the recent addition of Hasan Zaman and Steve Murphy to our team. Hasan brings over 40 years of systems integration and electrical/I&C design experience. Throughout his career, he has provided engineering support and project management to various industries inclusive of water/wastewater and transportation. His experience includes electrical/instrumentation design; control application engineering and programming; panel design; system start-up; and project management. In addition to his extensive design experience, Hasan has managed, supervised, and performed the full gamut of electrical/I&C related services from conceptual planning to final system commissioning.


Steve brings over 20 years of experience and has a combined background in control systems and Information Technology (IT). He began his career developing control systems applications, then migrated to IT where he provided networking solutions as a consultant to private enterprise organizations. He brings a wealth of networking assessment, diagnostics and design experience. He currently holds certifications as a VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).

Congratulations! Kevin Patel has been elected as the general symposium chair for the 2014 and 2015 ISA WWAC Symposium held in Orlando, FL on August 5-7, 2014.


Presented by the ISA Water and Wastewater Industries Division, in collaboration with the Florida AWWA Section, the WEF Automation and Info Tech Committee, the Florida Water Environment Association, and the Instrumentation Testing Association, the WWAC Symposium helps professionals in the water and wastewater industries understand how instrumentation, SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), and automatic control applications are vital to the treatment and distribution of water; the collection and treatment of wastewater; and the management of stormwater.


The symposium also provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable technical information, networking, professional development, and continuing education credits (CEUs and PDHs).


This 3-day symposium is focused on the challenges associated with automation and instrumentation in the water and wastewater sectors. It features 2 full days of presentations on each day, a tour of a local water/wastewater facility, a general reception, networking events, a poster session, and a supplier showcase.

ISA Water/Wastewater Industry Division Cyber Security Webinar

On March 6, 2013 the ISA water/wastewater division held a webinar that discussed cyber security threats and techniques for how to manage the risk. Rick Hidalgo and Chris Fogle (Delta-Risk) presented the webinar on the subject of “Cyber Security – Application to the Water Sector”.


This webinar focused on the ever increasing needs for implementing cyber security strategies for operations involving control systems. It included a brief overview of the evolution of the cyber threat, the trends in the market as they relate to addressing these issues, and some general recommendations for addressing concerns related to cyber security. Additionally, our presenters provided insights and perspectives on United States FEMA’s National Level Exercise (NLE) 2012.

Congratulations! Kevin Patel has been elected as the Director-elect in 2013 and 2014 for the ISA Water/Wastewater Industry Division.


The ISA Water and Wastewater Division (WWID) is concerned with all aspects of instrumentation and automated-control related to commercial and public systems associated with water and wastewater management. Membership in this Division provides the latest news and information relating to instrumentation and control systems in water and wastewater management, including water processing and distribution, as well as wastewater collection and treatment. WWID is invaluable to professionals interested in sanitary technology and engineering, and the operation and maintenance of wastewater facilities. The Division holds an annual symposium that features presentations by industry practicioners and published proceedings.
